For the Love of My Dad, Tom
My dad, Tom, died of cancer when I was nineteen. Eight years later, when I took a job at the Christi Center, I finally became able to deal with the pain and grief I felt after his death.
I started working at the Christi Center with the hopes of helping others. I had no idea that I would find a loving, supportive community where my own grief would be transformed into something positive. Every day, I speak with people who have just lost a loved one and don’t know what to do to overcome the seemingly insurmountable pain. It is an honor and privilege to be able to share the Christi Center with them–and to offer them the hope that, despite the pain they feel today, they will be able to find a “new normal” through celebrating the memories of their loved one.
